We are not quite halfway through the first quarter of 2018, so business owners are still looking for ways to make improvements and set themselves up for a strong year. Redesigning their websites, especially if it has been at least a couple of years since they last did it, is a great option.
Every business owner knows it is necessary to have a site for their business, but unfortunately, if that site is old and outdated, it could be doing more harm than good.
If this is the year for a site renovation, what should be on your radar for improvement?
Start with Your Relationship with Your Site
Websites are not “set it and forget it.” Like all healthy, happy relationships, they require attention. You should treat your website like it is one of your sales employees. Pay it attention, make sure it has everything it needs to perform, and be proud of it when it brings in new business.
Something as simple as this shift in thinking and improvement in your approach to your site will get you off to a strong start in 2018.
Know Your Competitor
If it has been awhile since you have checked out what your competition is doing, now is the time. If they have recently updated, take that as a sign that it is time for you to do the same.
Of course, if it is been awhile for them and for your business, now is the time to get out ahead of them. You will be seen as an industry innovator.
Consider SEO and Mobile
Your site needs to be mobile-ready. It needs to have a strong SEO game. And you need to address any technical issues that are holding you back.
The average business spends a few thousand dollars on editing its site each year to make sure it is operating as it should and that it is serving their business. You should plan to do the same.
Know Your Worth
Make sure you are easily able to identify the value your site brings your business. If you are not able to explain to someone – or understand yourself – why your website is such a valuable marketing tool, it is time to make some upgrades.
If you are feeling overwhelmed at this point, do not. There are easy ways to improve your current site. You can utilize WordPress or work with a professional who can easily help you make improvements. Take a deep breath and know that by the end of 2018, your site will be working overtime to help you bring in new business.
